Sunny River Pet Services & Dog Walking LLC

”Sunny River Pet Services is top notch. Everything is super smooth and has been since day one. Great communication, always on time. I am incredibly happy to have them helping with my pup.”
— Blue Bareford

”I was nervous about trying another pet service as the other service I used was very unreliable, but I am glad I tried them. The connection, meet and greet, and continual care for our beasties has been amazing.
It is nice to not have to worry while we are away as they are always very responsive and thorough with their scheduling. They also send updates and pics with each visit. Our dogs are very comfortable with them and the walkers are authentically good with them. We have 2 giant breeds and an average size breed and they handle them with ease!”
— Michelle N.
We have worked with animals and pet parents in Fredericksburg for over 20 years. We have continued to learn on the job and pursue further education in order to better serve our clients and our community.
We love to support local shelters by walking their dogs and sponsoring their adoptable pets. This helps them get adopted and allows us to learn more about different types of personalities and behaviors!

“Erin and Cheyenne are caring, attentive and compassionate! They gave my dogs the attention they needed and went out of their way to learn my pets’ ins and outs! My dogs were so excited any time they came over to take care of them. It was like their family away from home. I couldn't recommend anyone more, 20/10!”
— Dakota L.
We’ve got your back, no matter what happens. We are professionally insured sitters and will ensure your pets are in the safest hands; whether that involves a trip to the ER, basic care at home, or both.

”Erin and Cheyenne were very pleasant to work with. They were very knowledgeable when it came to our animals!”
— Stephen P.

“Sunny River Pet Services was super professional and caring while looking after our orange cat Cheeto! They visited him everyday and updated us on what he’d been up to. They even cleaned up an unexpected mess and left our house in better condition. Cheeto seemed to really enjoy they’re visits and I would definitely hire them again for future pet sitting needs! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

“Sunny River Pet Services watched our dog, Luna in our home while we were away, and they took excellent care of her. They sent tons of pictures and extremely detailed updates as frequently as we had agreed upon. They made sure to send them at predictable times each day. They went above and beyond in the care they provided, including taking Luna for extra walks. They made sure to enforce the rules we have for our dog and left our home spotless. We can't recommend them enough, and will absolutely be booking them again the next time we need pet care. They are hands down the best dog sitters we've had."
— Julia B. (Rover)

Our Story
We are Sunny River Pet Services- a dog walking and pet sitting service serving the greater Fredericksburg area and its wonderful community. We (Erin and Cheyenne) started growing our business together in 2025 in order to better serve the community and animals in need. Cheyenne lost her heart dog, a pitbull named Diana, in 2022. She chooses to serve the community and their animals to give her purpose after the hole Diana left behind. We love animals with our whole hearts and want to spend our time working and developing deep bonds with many different types of pets and their owners. In addition, we service local shelters so that the dogs and cats there are able to escape the commotion within, even if only for a short time.We are specialized in Dog Walking and prioritize creating a unique experience that is perfect for your dog. In addition, we are CPR and First Aid certified so we keep your pet safe in even the most troublesome circumstances. We adore our customers and foster warm and welcoming relationships with them so that they feel comfortable leaving their pets in our care. We would not trust just anyone with our pets and we expect our clients would feel similarly. We want to get to know you, we want to make sure we are a good fit, and we want to ensure your pets’ safety and comfort above all."Sunny River has been wonderful taking care of our Harry! He is a big dog and barks loudly at people he doesn’t know because he is anxious and shy. Cheyenne and Erin were incredibly patient with him and won him over quickly. I highly recommend their services!"
- Buffy A.We hope you all will consider letting us meet you and your pet so that we can offer you the best care possible.
Our Pets

Calypso, Resident Drama Queen:
Callie was born with one eye. She was adopted by Erin because her original adopter said she should be put down because of her eye, despite being perfectly healthy.
Callie is the most dramatic, whining 25/8. If she doesn't like or want to do something, she will lay on the ground and refuse any coercion you try to offer. She is simply upset. She is high energy and loves playing in water; specifically water troughs at the barn... which causes her allergies to flare.
She loves belly rubs and actively demands humans give them to her. She is sleeping in your bed and she will be under your covers. Or you won't be sleeping. She loves bedtime and has to bring a toy to bed every night.

Dio, The All Devourer:
Dio is our resident dumpster cat. He was rescued at our workplace as he was living underneath of our dumpster, fending off raccoons, foxes, and more. He was about 4 months old at that time and is now the most grateful guy. He tolerates anything you do to him, even if he is unhappy. He puts all of his trust towards humans.
Dio loves food like nothing else. If he smells it, he's there and actively trying to steal it from you. That spoon? "I will knock it onto the floor," he says. Despite his affinity for food, he is somehow the slowest eater out of all of our cats- we assume he prefers to savor his meals. Don't put your fingers to close to him or they will be chomped. Hard.
Dio is a tiny guy who has to be the center of attention and will lay on your head and will weasel into other cat's spots so he can get closer to you.

Gus, The Chaotic Single Brain Cell:
Ah, Gus. Chaos and freedom is what he craves. You don't let him outside of his room? He'll knock everything you own onto the floor. And he'll stare at you while he does it. You don't give him the attention he requires? He will fight with his brothers and make the most concerning sounds so that you'll get up. He's incredibly vocal and will talk back to you- with attitude.
Gus was given to Cheyenne in 2023 because he was too chaotic. And his former owners were right. Cheyenne spent many a night on the couch to avoid Gus's kittenhood shenanigans. Sleep? For the weak. Gus has, however, grown up now and is very cuddly; only exhibiting chaos at certain times.

Dexter, The Muscle:
Dexter is our large boi and the most easily overstimulated. He stares off into space, pondering his life, so he has a delayed response to anything happening around him. Erin thought he was schizophrenic when he was a kitten because he was CRAZY.
Dexter wants to play with other cats, but they fear his size. Tiny is the only one willing to take on the heavyweight.
He is incredibly attached to Erin, who rescued him, and doesn't really like anyone else. Much to her dismay, he sucks on her earlobe for support. His mother died and he was discovered in a truck engine at a very young age.
In his free time, Dexter chomps cardboard until it's dead. And hides in tunnels so you won't pick him up.

Atlas, The Pretty Boy:
Atlas. Resident poop shooter. Atlas lives in fear. His brother traumatized him during kittenhood, so now he is a shy guy who doesn't like ... well anything really, other than humans.
This has resulted in Atlas developing the familiar urinary issues that come with anxiety. He's a special guy. Don't try to pick him up unless you want to smell like blown anal sacs. Atlas prefers to keep his feet on the ground and his head on a swivel.
His little rescue brother, Dio, has bonded well with him and has helped him gain a great deal more confidence. For a cat who hates cats, he sure loves his little brother.

Tiny, Queen of the House:
If there is a Mean Girl in this house, it is Tiny. She's pretty and soft, but she's also a diva who likes to play Queen of the Cat Trees. And the house, really. She controls the men (cats) that are in the house and ensures she is the first to be served. Missed breakfast? She'll be the first to scream at you for it. We recommend you're early.
She doesn't like just anyone or anycat and holds her own despite her small stature. She does, however, love dogs. Like a lot. Unfortunately, they do not love her as much and actively fear her.
If you need to subdue the rage of Tiny, place catnip in front of her. She will be contained. Alternatively, a dairy product may be used to temporarily subdue her (we don't offer her dairy, don't worry!).

Loki, Attitude With Four Legs:
Loki is Erin's off-the-track thoroughbred standing at 17 Hands who has found a new path in Dressage. Given his former history of being a trackstar, he still loves zooming across the field and arena. Loki can be a sweet, easy going guy. Most of the time. But he did break Erin's back a few years ago because he was being a naughty Bronco.
Loki doesn't always want to work and requires a lot of leg. If he really doesn't want to work, you're not going anywhere, but he can be pretty sweet with beginners.
His tongue is. out. always. And peppermints are the way to his heart.

Barnaby, The "I Don't Like You" Guy:
Barnaby is our resident attitude king. He doesn't want you to percieve him, but sometimes he will just stare at you from the tank, giving the most bombastic side eye. Don't put your icky human finger anywhere near him or he'll sulk right away like, "Ew you touched me!" (you haven't). Barnaby sees a hand reach into his tank and he is outta there.
